AMDR Resources on Combatting Anti-Reprocessing Tactics
In spite of the economic pressure facing hospitals and the healthcare sector, several original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) obstruct access to reprocessed devices through interference, designing restrictive technologies, and employing restrictive contracting for their medical devices, among other things, to limit savings from reprocessing and to instead maximize sales of new devices.
Consistent with our mission, the Association of Medical Device Reprocessors (AMDR) works to better align medical technology with the interests of hospitals and healthcare providers by making single-use device reprocessing and remanufacturing a key supply chain strategy.
Our members seek a robust, competitive medical device marketplace whereby hospitals and healthcare providers have unfettered access to all medical technologies and the ability to freely purchase, reprocess or otherwise control medical device assets as they see most appropriate. AMDR members adhere to a strict Code of Conduct.
Working with their hospital and healthcare partners, AMDR members continue to chronicle these anti-reprocessing practices so that we may address efforts aimed at undermining the value of reprocessing. Click on the subjects below for greater detail – including examples of how hospitals and healthcare providers have successfully overcome these attempts to block reprocessing.
